Highly recommended

In the Dutch handball world, the province of Limburg traditionally occupies a prominent place. Nowhere in the Netherlands can you find so many clubs together that are active at a high level. You will find them in Venlo, Weert , Panningen, Roermond, Valkenburg, Beek, Sittard and Geleen. The latter neighbouring towns in the heart of southern Limburg host the Limburg Handball Cup. V&L is an experienced organiser that has hosted several international tournaments, both for top teams and youth. And if you want a look outside the sports hall, Sittard's cosy, historic market square is highly recommended.

Sport facilities

V&L plays its matches at Glanerbrook sports centre. Glanerbrook is a sports centre located against the centre of Geleen's Burgemeester Damenpark. It occupies most of the park and includes a fitness centre, two sports halls, a subtropical swimming pool, outdoor pools, catering facilities, a hall with 30×60-metre ice hockey rink, an uncovered 500-metre cycling track and, in winter, an uncovered 400-metre skating track located within the cycling track.

About the organiser

V&L in Geleen was founded in 1949 and had a firm place in the national handball world since early in its existence. V&L's women's side has played in the premier league since 2010. V&L's men's team managed to win the national championship five times. The club organises several tournaments every year. The best-known tournament was the LHD tournament in which top teams from Moscow to Lisbon participated. Nowadays, the club organises two interregional youth tournaments to which the Limburg Cup will be added in 2025.

Touristic information

Sittard-Geleen

Located in the province of Limburg, Sittard-Geleen (92,624 inhabitants) borders directly on both Belgium and Germany as one of four Dutch municipalities. An international field of participants is therefore expected at the Limburg Handball Cup. Besides playing handball in V&L's modern sports hall, a visit to the heart of Sittard -the market square, is more than worthwhile. This square is surrounded by beautiful historical buildings, cosy cafés, restaurants and nice boutiques. Locals and tourists alike like to come here to relax and enjoy the pleasant Limburg atmosphere.
