“Poor but Sexy”

According to the mayor of Berlin, the city is poor but sexy. In view of the increasing numbers of visitors to Berlin he could be right. It might be an idea to investigate the truth of this claim, by paying a visit to the Stern Britz Cup: two birds with one stone, as they say. The tournament has been kept fairly simple by design, in part because the organizers know that during the evenings and nights they can hardly compete with the attractions of the city. However, during the day, an extensive international competition takes place on the pitch. This pattern of competition by day and entertainment by night is an idea echoed by many other teams elsewhere in Europe. The tournament takes place at a pleasant sports park in a suburb of Berlin. The city centre is easily accessible, thanks to an excellent public transport connection. During the day there is football and an ongoing barbecue. In the evening it is time to explore the city. Good thinking then, that the teams’ accommodation is in the city centre.
