''The world of international football''
En el torneo internacional de fútbol juvenil de la Copa Holanda, celebrado en Amsterdam (Países Bajos), se reúnen docenas de equipos de ocho nacionalidades. El torneo tiene lugar en Almere, en dos centros deportivos provistos de un total de diez campos de césped natural, cinco de césped artificial y una moderna sede. Uno de los organizadores, el Almery City FC, juega en segunda división de la liga profesional holandesa. Amsterdam, la capital holandesa, se encuentra a solo treinta minutos en coche de Almere. Sin lugar a dudas, visitar esta ciudad y sus muchos atractivos turísticos merece la pena. Y es que el gran interés transnacional que suscita este torneo internacional de fútbol juvenil de la Copa Holanda en Amsterdam es un indicador de que el fútbol no tiene fronteras.

FC Almere & AS'80
Desde julio de 2005, Almere City FC ocupa la posición 38 en la liga profesional holandesa. El club tiene casi 1.000 socios que juegan en aproximadamente 65 equipos en todas las categorías. Es el organizador de las finales regionales para equipos femeninos de la Asociación de Fútbol de Holanda (KNVB). Además del estadio, el club tiene unas grandes instalaciones modernas, con 10 campos (7 de hierba y 3 sintéticos) y una sede con 15 vestuarios. AS’80, al fundarse en 1980, usó el slogan ‘El fútbol es fenomenal en AS’80.’ Dicho grito de guerra todavía es el lema de los 800 socios del club, uno de los más antiguos de Almere. AS’80 tiene una casa del moderna y 5 campos (3 de hierba y 2 sintéticos). ASC Waterwijk es un club amateur de Almere, fundado en 1984. El jugador de fútbol profesional Hedwiges Maduro (Valencia CF) empezó su carrera en este club. ASC Waterwijk cuenta con una casa del club moderna y cinco campos (4 de hierba natural y 1 de hierba artificial). El club también dispone de una gran sección de fútbol femenino, con 7 equipos.

Almere
Almere (200,000 inhabitants) was built on reclaimed land and is the fastest growing city in the Netherlands. It is located just 20 km from Amsterdam, on the opposite side of the IJmeer lake. By train it takes just 20 minutes to reach the centre of Amsterdam. But there's no need to take the train if you want to shop, as Almere has one of the largest shopping centres in the Netherlands.
