On the lookout for an international competition at a cosy location? Then the Poperinge Trophy is the choice for you. Poperinge is a pleasant provincial Flemish town in south-west Belgium with an atmospheric centre, featuring a large market with plenty of terraces and shopping streets surrounding the centuries-old church. K.F.C. Poperinge is clearly proud of its international tournament. A local fanfare is waiting in the wings for the opening ceremony and guests are welcomed by the city authorities. The programme unfolds at a spacious sports complex within walking distance of the centre. Every day three matches are played. Not needed for a game right now? Then take a stroll to the 'Grote Markt' (the main market square).

The Poperinge Trophy tournament shall take place at the Don Bosco sports park. The sports park features 8 pitches, 16 changing rooms and a spacious, cosy canteen.

About the organiser

The Poperinge Trophy is organised by KFC Poperinge, one of the oldest football clubs in West Flanders. In 2008 the club celebrated its 100th anniversary. The Koninklijke Voetbalclub Poperinge (the Poperinge Royal Football Club) has 360 members spread across 21 youth teams and 2 senior teams.

Poperinge

Poperinge is situated in the south-west of Belgium. Just one kilometre from the sports grounds is the town centre. Grote Markt, a centuries-old square, is surrounded by lively pavement cafés. Fancy a quick bite?
Then you should head to the chip shop for tasty Flemish fries. Adjacent to the Grote Markt you will find Ieperstraat, Poperinge's main shopping street – the perfect place to pick up some of that delicious Belgian chocolate.

Swimming pool De Kouter

Poperinge Recreational Swimming Pool:
For fun in the water, head to Poperinge recreational pool. This brand new pool has several pools, whirlpools and a super water slide. The pool is around 5 minutes from the sports park.

Ypres:
15 minutes' drive to the east of Poperinge is the town of Ypres. This town is known during the First World War because of the battle in the trenches between the German and British troops, which lasted several years.
In Ypres you'll find many monuments, graveyards and museums which commemorate the four years of war, from 1914 to 1918.
