Sønderborg (27,000 inhabitants) is a pleasant port town on the east coast of southern Denmark, not far from the border with Germany. The town is built around Sønderborg Castle, which has been here since the 13th century. Sønderborg is partly located on the small island Als, which is connected to Jutland by a bridge and attracts many holidaymakers every year. In addition to Sønderborg castle, which today houses a fascinating historical museum, there is also the cosy harbour, the historic town centre and the many beaches on the wooded island of Als. A paradise for both culture and nature lovers!
