The best end to the football season

An international tournament at the beach and in sight of Venice. It's a sunny and thrilling end to your season! For that football-fest you'll have to make your way to the Jesolo Cup. Every year, some 60 teams from 8 to 10 countries take part in the tournament. The local Armando Picci stadium, with 2000 covered seats, is the meeting point for the participants. Here, the tournament is officially opened with a celebratory ceremony and it's also where the finals and prize-giving are conducted. If you fancy doing something other than football, you can take a dip in the lake or take the bus-boat from Punto Sabbioni directly to Piazza San Marco, right in the centre of Venice.

Touristic information

Lido di Jesolo

Trofeo di Jesolo is played at a few locations in Lido di Jesolo. Jesolo (10,000 inhabitants) is located 25 kilometres from highly popular Venice on the Laguna Veneta. The adjacent peninsula Lido di Jesolo is a popular seaside resort on the Adriatic coast with several kilometres of beautiful sandy beach, complete with a promenade lined with hotels, shops and terraces. Enthusiasts can head to the pedestrian shopping street in the evening, full of shoppers, cosy café terraces and eateries.

Venice

Venice is located at 100 kilometres from Lignano and Bibione. This city, with its many gondolas, was built on several small islands that are connected by numerous little bridges. Venice is really worth a visit. A few tips:

The Rialto Bridge: this bridge over the Canal Grande is an experience in itself. The diverse traders and other sellers, mostly of souvenirs, give the bridge a colourful character.

Marco Polo's house: the birthplace of this famous explorer can be found in the courtyard of the Corte del Million.

Piazza San Marco: this atmospheric square is highly recommended. Take a stroll around and have a drink at Florian or Quadri, the famous historical cafes.
